Zill was one of Mangopedia’s favorite mangoes tasted in 2026. After tasting it, it is easy to understand why this older Florida cultivar earned and kept the simple Zill name.

The 2026 sample measured 20 Brix, which is a very strong reading. Many average mangoes land closer to around 16 Brix, so Zill reaching 20 Brix matched the eating experience: very sweet, aromatic, and delicious.

The texture was also excellent. When cut, the flesh did not show noticeable fiber, and the eating texture was very smooth and soft. The sample tasted like it was close to overripe, but it did not have any bad or off flavors.

The aroma was sweet and pleasant. After tasting a few Zill-related mangoes, this fruit helped make the “Zill type” flavor easier to recognize. The flavor came across as a classic Zill profile, with a blend that suggested Indo-Chinese character, Indian mango influence, and classic Florida mango flavor together.
