Winters

by | Aug 9, 2025 | Mango Cultivars

The ‘Winters’ mango is a variety that originated as a Glenn seedling from the USDA. While not as widely known or celebrated as its parent, the Glenn, the Winters mango possesses some distinct characteristics. It shares a similar shape and color with the Glenn, though it tends to be slightly smaller. However, unlike the fragrant Glenn, the Winters mango is noted for having a rather resinous smell. An interesting fact about the Winters mango is that despite its peachy and sweet taste, it is often described as being fibrous and having a chalky acidity, leading some to prefer the Glenn over it. This suggests that the Winters mango might benefit from further ripening or perhaps a different cultivation approach to fully develop its potential flavor and texture.
