Venus

by | Aug 8, 2025 | Mango Cultivars

The ‘Venus’ mango is a commercial mango cultivar that originated in South Florida, developed through the Zill breeding program in Boynton Beach. It is a seedling of Zill Indochinese, with speculation that one of its parents might be a ‘Kent’ mango. It is a mid to late-season variety, typically ripening in July and August. The fruit is generally large, round in shape, and turns yellow with a light red blush at maturity. The flesh is firm, fiberless, and light yellow, offering an incredibly sweet flavor with bright citrus notes and hints of coconut. An interesting fact about the ‘Venus’ mango is that it is known for its exceptional late-season flavor and clear skin, making it a rising star in the mango world.
