Springfels

by | Aug 6, 2025 | Mango Cultivars

The ‘Springfels’ mango is a large, commercially grown mango cultivar that originated in south Florida. It was selected by Charles Springfels of West Palm Beach in 1925, and is believed to be a seedling of the ‘Haden’ mango. Some sources suggest it was an attempt to hybridize ‘Haden’ with ‘Sandersha’ (also known as Totapuri). This mango is known for its good eating quality, large size, and colorful appearance. An interesting fact is that despite its age as a cultivar, it remains a popular choice for its taste and productivity, and has even been referred to as “Super Haden” in Latin America.
