Spirit of ’76

by | Aug 6, 2025 | Mango Cultivars

The ‘Spirit of ’76’ mango is a named cultivar that originated in south Florida, specifically selected by the Zill family in Boynton Beach. It is believed to be a natural cross between the ‘Haden’ and ‘Zill’ mango varieties, inheriting desirable traits from both. This mango received its distinctive name because the tree first fruited in 1976, coinciding with the bicentennial of the United States. It is known for its classic mango flavor, often described with notes of peach and nectarine, and its completely fiberless flesh.
