The ‘San Felipe’ mango originates from western Cuba and is also grown in South Florida. The San Felipe mango is a highly regarded variety known for its striking appearance and intensely sweet, aromatic flavor. It produces large fruits, around 20 ounces, with a bright yellow skin and an apple-red blush, often adorned with white dots. The tree is a fast grower and a consistent producer. It is often compared to the Haden mango. An interesting fact about the ‘San Felipe’ mango is that despite its Cuban origin, many Cubans are reportedly unfamiliar with it, suggesting its wider propagation might have occurred outside of Cuba.
