Okrung

by | Aug 5, 2025 | Mango Cultivars

The Okrung mango, also spelled Okrong, originated in Thailand and was introduced to Florida in 1973. It is a small, oblong-shaped fruit that typically remains green at maturity, sometimes developing a slight red blush or yellow hue. The flesh is pale yellow, contains some fiber, and is highly prized for its exceptionally sweet, sugar-cane like flavor. It is a mid-season mango, with fruits maturing from late June to July. An interesting fact about the Okrung mango is that it is notable for having the highest sugar content of any mango variety tested in Florida.
