A 2026 Guava mango sample measured 19.3 Brix. The fruit was beautiful, round, and on the smaller side, but still had thick cheeks for its size.
The identity of this sample could not be fully verified. It was described as coming from a tree purchased from a nursery, and the fruit had an interesting guava-like aroma when smelled. That aroma made the tasting especially exciting at first.
The eating experience was good, though it was a little disappointing compared with the guava-like aroma and expectations. Instead of a strong guava-style flavor, the flavor profile came across more like a Thai-type mango, similar to Pim Saen Mun, with honey sweetness and a spicy resin note. The skin was a little darker, but the overall fruit reminded Mangopedia of Pim Saen Mun in both appearance and flavor direction.
Cutting the fruit open was very easy. The texture was smooth and pleasant, with no noticeable fiber. It did not come across as especially creamy or buttery; the texture was more clean, smooth, and easy to eat.
Tree observations were limited, though the variety was described as apparently very disease resistant. Based on this sample, Guava is a good mango for those who enjoy very sweet Thai-type flavor with resin character. For someone wanting more depth and stronger flavor impact, Mangopedia would still lean toward a mango like Zill.
